Ionia FromentT 5.0 out of 5 stars Reviewed in the United States – When you read this book with your kids, it will immediately strike your funny bone, but that was not what made me truly appreciate it. Instead, rather than just being a funny book that has the kind of humour parents encourage their kids to find funny, it also teaches a lot of valuable moral lessons that are easy for kids to understand. If you are looking for a way to broach uncomfortable topics with your kids, this book could be a pathway to that. I found that my children not only enjoyed the stories in this book, but that it got them (and me) thinking.
For one thing, the characters do find themselves in terribly funny situations, but how they resolve their issues and how they relate to one another shows kids that it is okay to be different and that you don’t have to conform to a certain societal ideal in order to function in this world. As a parent, I am always dismayed when I think a book series is going to be appropriate for my children and then come to find out that it is not. You don’t have that worry with these books.
I thought this was a great way to promote spending time with my children and reading a story each night before bed has become part of our routine. They love these books, even the two oldest of the boys at ages 13 and 14 found value in them, as did the younger ones.
This is a great series that parents and kids alike can enjoy and I encourage you to check them out and share them together.
